aspire 8730g-6353 intel 5100 wifi link issue

Thread Starter
i have just purchased a new acer aspire 8730g-6353 and for some reason i cannot connect to the internet wirelessly. i can see the networks available and attempt to connect, but i'm never given the chance to input the WEP key to connect. it gives me an error telling me my troubleshooting options (which just alludes to it being a problem with signal or some garbage like that, but there is 100% signal strength at any given time).

Can someone please help me?

Did you see the wireless button on the left side of the laptop

yes, i ahve the wireless turned on.
as my post said, it can pick up the network (as in the show up in the network list) but it won't let me enter in a key to access it. all it does is give me an error saying that the network cannot be connected to and gives me options for troubleshooting low signal, but my router is about 5 feet away.

i should make it known that i have just installed windows 7 and downloaded all the neccessary drivers for the laptop itself.

That sounds like maybe the wrong Key. Sure you have checked Capitals??
Double check your key. Another suggestion for an individual with a 4720 was to try updating the wireless driver
