Mute button

Hi

I have an Acer Aspire 5740G running Win 7. I am really rather pleased with after my HP Pavilion.

I do have one gripe (OK, more than one, but this is the one that niggles most often).

Is there a way to assign Mute to the P button?

Yes, I know I can click on the speaker icon in the tray or press Fn+F8, but there really needs to be a one-button solution for when the phone rings or someone walks in unexpectedly.

Does anyone have any ideas, please?

Something like using a floating sound icon perhaps?

I was thinking more in terms of a single button on my keyboard - on the Acer, there is a P button which enables quick launch your chosen app or web page or whatever.

I was hoping that someone knew a way to set that as a mute button...or any other single key.

Then you can try to map your "P" key to invoke the command.

Thank you qhn. You are now officially my hero of the month!

(The "P" button is for the Acer Launch Manager)
