Finding one that has 1920x1200 is rather difficult to say the least.

I never get into the ins and outs of laptop screen resolution as to me it is a laptop - you surf the web, burn cds etc etc with them - a pretty useful tool... If I wanted to watch HD content, I would not do it on a laptop screen, let alone a screen below 22" - I would watch it on a big TV to enjoy all the benefits.. Even if the laptop was HD out, plugging the 'out' to the big screen, again to me pretty pointless as you have this noise/distraction next to the TV (yes I have tried it, no I wouldn't do it again)... I have found though, that the screen is in the eye of the USER... My HP2133 mini has a brilliant screen, compared to the Samsung NC10, both are very usable and othe people would disagree.... But, my opinion.......

On HP with overheating and Wifi issues, yes I have seen this, and it was always an nvidia based model from the 6000 series to 8000 series of GPU... But at the time loads of other suffered with the same issue, ie DELL, but oddly not Acer - these are ones I have physically seen...

However I think nVidia has rectified that issue, and would people please use their laptops on a solid surface, let them breath.... using it on your lap or in bed on the duvet will kill it with over heating....

Couldn't agree with you more.

As for using the HDMI out, I'm currently using it on my 32" HDTV, since I'm in an Air Force dorm room. I personally like it as it fits my needs at the moment, but as for a living room environment you are correct.

I do plan on using this setup in my bedroom as my XPS 16 has a Blu-Ray player, and the noise level isn't that bad.

Mr T, You are right. If I was to me I would have been happy with a netbook but this is for someone who merely uses it for web surfing, a bit of media entertainment, and usual everyday stuff--let's say for a 60-year-old female and not so tech savvy person. It's all matter of preference so I just have to see whether this is what she'll be willing to tolerate.

Another thing I've been finding out is that Dell has issues with Studio 1557/8 but not so much with 1555. I'm still hoping, if the screen resolution is not so much a decision hurdle, I could either order Acer or Asus.

I'm still confused why this link gives the price of $699 for Dell Studio 1555 while this link (with even downgraded resolution) gives $900!

Strange- The one for $900 has lower resolution, but a higher capacity hard drive. (500GB HDD vs 320GB). $300 price difference for an extra (theoretical) 180GB?

I concur on the reliability (or lack thereof) on the HP's despite me owning an HP im willing to give the ENVYs a shot purely because of the building materials and the design coming from VooDoo engineers.

Yoob as long as you are ready for qhn's post about having many in his family and no problems?

I agree with you HP's have thermal issues. Not sure I would make the leap. But I do not have too G73 for me all the way.
