Viewing angle of WSXGA+ screen?

I can't decide between the Dell Inspiron 8600 and Chembook/PowerPro M 5:6/Compal cl56/etc. One of my major hangups is the screen quality of the Compal vs. Dell's "Ultrasharp". Apparantly, the Compal has a narrow vertical viewing angle, which is the norm with notebooks.

How is the viewing angle of the WSXGA+ screens on Dell's computers? Does it vary with screen manufacturer? (Hitachi vs. Samsung vs. Sharp)
Thanks

Videwing angle on my Hitachi WSXGA+ is VERY GOOD! it is about 60 degree horizonal.

the only problem with Hitachi is it is blurry, and bottom of the LCD is lighter. But really, it is not that bad at all!

Well my Samsung WSXGA is 65 degrees left-right and 50 degrees up-down which is pretty good. If you want more info visit the "All Questions about Displays, resolutions..." sticky thread.

Yeah, I meant vertical. In that 50 degree arc, do the colors stay more or less the same or is there significant change? On my current computer, the colors change significantly over a very small range.

They do change, but not that significantly compared to most other laptop LCD's I have seen. Over the first 30 degrees or so there is not much difference, after that it starts to change a bit... but overall it is excellant, A+ in that reagrd.

Yeah, if I go Dell, I'm doing it over the phone and insisting they give me a Samsung screen and NEC DVD burner after everything I've read, here! lol
