Pretty sure mine's still a ram issue though myself.
Going through Dell's troubleshooting, they had me remove all the peripherals (HD, Memory, Wifi, Modem, CD/DVD, Battery, etc.) Still same issue. I'm going to get my new AC brick tomorrow and swap CPUs. Then its pretty much the Mobo, I'll see what kind of issues come up with warranty with the people I bought it from. Hopefully its pain free.

Well, putting the 5150 on hold for a day or so. Bought an 8500 Dell tonight. Installed my old hard drive with my copy of WinXP Pro. Originally the 8500 had XP Home installed. This one goes to Boot setup and BIOS settings but it looks like it isnt accepting my hard drive (wont boot). Any idears?

Forgot to say, I'd like to keep all my files/settings/etc. I have Office 2003 and some Garmin stuff I really dont want to reinstall if I dont have to. I copied the whole hard drive to my wife's new computer. I found my reinstall discs (for WinXP on the 5150, the 8500 came with Home)

Well Id still go with the hard format, just take everything in your system folders and program files and copy paste after. should be ok. don't overwrite anything when you paste back though so as to keep ur correct drivers in order for the new lappy.
