What kind of bluetooth module do you have in the 1730?
The m11x has a 2.1 module |
M1730 will fit in the M11x.

I really don't think it's going to work, but until there is actual verification of this I say keep searching for spec data.

So, once again, if You have ACTUALLY SEEN the two modules, one from an M11x, and one from an M1730, and have PHYSICAL proof that they do or don't work, please let me know.
Thanks.

You would have to ask that while I'm 8,000 miles away from my computer tools. I have an m11x with a bluetooth module, but I'm not going to go out looking for a screwdriver set just to get you a picture of the module. I'm really not trying to be an ass- If I had my toolkit w/me I'd already have the picture you request, but since my tools are back home in Hawaii (and my military orders aren't up until Jan 2011) 2.5 weeks is not that long to wait.

By the way, you said you where 8,000 miles away. You wouldn't happen to be in the military on a tour, would you?

And I would never expect you or anyone to go and buy something just to get me a picture. If you happen upon a screwdriver, and have the time to get me a picture and dimensions, it would be greatly appreciatted. If not, guess I just have to wait till my M11x gets here. Thanks for trying though.

The BT unit for the M1730 will NOT work, as the M11x uses the module above and plugs in directly to the MB using a screw. Hope this helps.

I should chime in here since I did all the research about this already since the AAFES site wouldn't let me choose bluetooth (or personalized plate... same as Canada, from what I've read)... but it was about $100 cheaper plus free shipping that way.
Anyway... I found teardown pics of the M11x WITH bluetooth close up (sorry, found it on my old laptop and can't find it again!). Cross referenced those numbers in Google and came up with Dell 365 (RM948) bluetooth module, shared with the following systems:

Don't trust the other Dell parts page showing "365" in the heading, the systems above in the compatibility, and narrow card pic but says 370 everywhere else (not to mention a different part number) in the description...
To me, it seems the pages got mashed together somehow... search Google for Dell 370 and you'll see it's a wide card with an edge connector, where as the 365 is a narrow module with a connector on the bottom that screws on the board...
I've read that the 365 module is not available new, only refurbished, even if you call them and try to order it for your M11x...
Here's the service manual page showing the narrow bluetooth module on the top of the motherboard under the palm rest and just about a PITA to get to:

I know this is an old thread that I started, but I thought I could add this bit of info. Maybe it will help someone. After months of searching Ebay for "M11x +bluetooth", and finding NOTHING!!
I came back to this thread, and instead searched Ebay for "RM948" and I got a few hits. It looks identical to the one in the pictures mentioned in this thread. I am going to try and get one, and once I do I will post back on my success (or lack there of) in getting it to work in my M11x. Thanks peeps!!
