Upgrading processor - please help

Hey guys im thinking of upgrading the processor on my relatively old Compaq V6133CL. I currently have dual-core AMD 64 X2 TL-52 with 1.6GHz and want to upgrade to dual-core AMD Turion 64 X2 TL-60 with 2.0GHz. I did research on my own and asked HP tech support, which is pretty useless, but still need some advice. My question is will it be supplied with enough voltage, seems like it needs 1.075 / 1.10. The socket type is S1 in both. Are there any other things that I should be aware of?

My current system:
1.6 GHz AMD Turion TL-52
Mobo: Quanta 30B7 with F.3D bios from HP
2Gb DDR2

You should be able to with no issue. Take the opportunity to clean out the inside real good and some good thermal paste, and you are set.

Be careful with the tightening up the heat-sink screws.

TL-52 is dual core? Unless HP crippled and if so make sure not BIOS restricted. Are you sure not running two cores? With HP's having rep for some heat issues and the fact AMD's do run on the hot side. I strongly suggest you get a "Tyler" 65nm TL-60 not the "Trinidad" 90nm TL-60. The 65nm has the same TDP as your TL-52, 31w the 90nm is 35w.

Mistake on my part.. it is dual core dunno how I forgot.. havent actually used that laptop for a while. I have heard how 65nm technology is better than 90nm so yeah I would definitely get that one. Overheating IS an issue as compaq/hp laptop design doesnt cool it that well.. for that reason I have a cooling pad running non-stop.

Then yes that CPU swap would work I would not increase the TDP, no way. So 65nm or nothing.

Now we get into an area that should be considered and is not always to the level it should. What do you do. What do you expect this upgrade to do. What is the cost of the upgrade. Is it really worth it?

Yes powerpack, of course it has to be 65nm. Im actually now planning on upgrading to TL-64 2.2GHz (TMDTL64HAX5DM) and installing windows 7 32bit.. hope to enjoy my laptop for another few years. The processor costs $70 on ebay.. and I consider that to be a good investment

Any warranty on this CPU? Share with us how the upgrade turns out for you.

If you go TL64 all are 35w TDP even 65nm. That said it might not make or break but you are adding additional thermal stress. HP is not known for handling heat well.

just installed the processor and something is wrong: it gets extremely hot even if im just in bios. Windows started with no problem and system recognized the processor. I updated bios from f.3D to F.42 prior installation. Seems like the system is not able to handle it.. or maybe thats due to TDP jumping to 35w from 31w? The fan is working fine and I applied arctic silver 5 on the processor.. any suggestions?

Do you mean the temp sensor 'says' its hot, or is there physical hot shit ass burning smell air coming out?

Cause for the former, its more than likely either not so good contact with your heatsink or the fan is unplugged, but since u seem certain about the fan.
Latter I'll leave to people that might know more instead of my speculating speculations of spectacular specific specifying of a specific speculated problem.

Its physically hot! CPUZ said it was about 60C and it felt lite it was 60C. Fan seems to be working fine and goes to high rpms

60C is not out of normal it is 140F. CPU is designed for like up to 203F I think, not that I would want it 203F.
