Guys, have any of you found ATi mobility drivers that will work with windows 7? Vista had drivers, but 7 now comes with ones from windows update that are very basic. No way to change settings.

I have no luck either on my M6805-W7

Did you guys try using the Catalyst drivers?

I think I used them when I did the W7 trial on my m6811 back with the RC versions.

Try http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownloa...win7-32.aspx#1

You can only run windows 7 x86 (32bit) on these laptops. There simply is no driver for the ati 9600. I use 7.2 catalyst vista drivers and they work perfect in vista/7 x86. The modem and audio gets installed off the restore DVD, and then the audio will get a new update. The modem stays the old driver from XP but it still works.

I'll have to double check mine, then, because I'm pretty sure I installed the x64 Win7 on my 7422 after I got it back up and running...

If you did, we all would like to know the secret for the x64 drivers.

The RC version may have worked but I tried for a week with x64 RTM and it would not work. I did find a driver from windows xp that would allow for the full resolution, but not only was the routine very difficult, but it had no option or 3d capabilitys.

yah I'll have to check it when I get home. I def have a driver of SOME sort running, as otherwise this WEI I ran after setting it up would be absolute crap

i might have gotten it off Windows Update, perhaps. but I try to install x64 unless the proc itself cant support it, so im pretty sure Im running x64 on there...

yep, running x64 on here. signed ATI driver, driver version 8.561.0.0 in Device Manager, dated 12/1/2008. drivers files themselves seem to be a mix of Catalysts 7.15 and 6.14

doesnt look like it was downloaded from windows update, so it must have been drivers on my disc... no Catalyst Control Center, of course, but I never used it in the first place.

downloading 3DMark05 now...

Can you upload that driver to somewhere accessible Conda?

cheers ...
if I can figure out how to get an INF out of it I will
post #12 of 21
well I'll let you know what the 3DMark got when 3DMark05 service gets restored on Futuremark
post #13 of 21
okay 3DMark05 is getting 1283, which is the best score I've ever gotten on it looking back over the different scores i've posted over the years...

you guys really not have this driver? because I didn't install anything, because I brought it back up to be a terminal server for my Eee ... just using a regular 7 Ultimate RTM disc, the signature edition sent out for the windows 7 party hosts

I'll see if I can dig up the driver on Monday from work and will upload it to mediafire.

cheers ...

What did you have to do for intalling them? Use setup icon or do manually thru device manager?

I will ditch my 32 bit install and give them a try.
You can use the Setup Icon if you want to go for the full package, if not do the manual and just pointing it to the driver folder.

No dice for me on WIN7 x64. I am using RTM.

The driver installed the catalyst install manager, and the MS 2005+ Resistributable or somthing like that. No display drivers.

It is detecting it as a standard VGA adapter.

The search continues ...

Also not that it matters much, but the x64 version does not have a modem driver anywhere. Although the internet today really cannot be used with dial up unless a complete emergency.

The x86 version allows you to install of the gateway recovery dvd, and it will freeze up, but once you restart it works and dials fine.
