vpcs111fm

I am having 2 issues with my Sony vpcs111fm laptop. I am running the latest drivers. windows 7 ultimate x64. 4gigs ram

Random audio stutter. all apps do it. even if I have it just sitting there playing an mp3 and nothing else.

boot up sound does it.
mpc-hc does it.
foobar2000 does it.

I lose wireless connectivity after a while, normally after a bit of traffic is generated.

If i run my backup script that uses robocopy to sink a folder with a folder on my file server. (lots of small files)

Sometimes just after down loading a few large files.

I have to reboot the computer to get wireless back.

Any ideas?

I take it that all drivers are being up to date? Firewall/anti-virus settings?

I formatted and reinstalled using a different hd (wd), it has appeared to fix the audio issue.

The wireless card still dies after a while. I think there is a flaw in the drivers.

What do you mean "die after a while"? Just stopped working?

the card looses all connectivity, windows still shows it as being installed. but it will not show any available networks. using the on/off switch on the front turns the hardware off and windows recognizes that. but when its turned back on it. still no connectivity.

I can plug in the lan cable and get a connection from that or i reboot to get wireless back.

Sounded like either driver issue or you are having conflicting wireless managers. Let Windows handling connections?

...it looks like the wireless connectivity come back if i sleep it or plug in the lan. will need to test some more.

Yes, just using the windows manager.

Check out the properties and disable anything that "allows power down to save battery" in all ports. Also "wake up on LAN" option, disable it in conjunction with the power down option.

Stop still occurs.

If I go into device manager and disable then re-enable the wireless nic. I get my connection back.

I am currently facing the same problem and I would like to get rid of it. The audio stuttering is pestering me; how did you manage to fix this problem specifically?

Thanks for your help

Ok haha so how is this process done exactly? I'm confused. So you replaced the old hard drive with a new one and installed it; you actually have to buy and new hard drive, open the Vaio up and replace it? Sounds like a lot of work sheesh T.T I updated to the most recent audio drivers but the random sound stutter does not go away

That is not so much work as you think. And it might worth the shot to solve your problem as bob6987 mentioned.

I just love that qhn is answering all the questions.

Installing a new drive is easy. 2 screws hold the cover on, 3 hold the drive in and 4 hold the drive in its caddy.

After using the laptop for a while, i would say the audio stutter is 90% cleared up. It will still happen if I do things that require hard drive access. Much better then before and much better.

I was coping my music folder from one partition to another and converting wavs to mp4s, moving and deleting files to a usb drive and surfing the internet while playing music to get it to randomly stutter.

For me it is much better. It could been just a simple format reinstall, but the drive i replaced is getting a 1.2 better score in windows performance score.

It only been on for a few minutes but so far so good. Will update again after a day or so.

Good luck. Give us a feedback as how it goes. I am still waiting for the next BIOS update on our CS machine. The last one turns on VT and makes a heck of a noise to the drive
