Which Acer software can I remove?

Thread Starter
Hi,

Just purchased a new Acer laptop: ASPIRE 5740-6378

This is the first laptop, I ever seen that has this much software installed by the manufacture Acer.

I have the following groups

Acer
Acer Arcade Deluxe
Acer GridVista
AcerSystem
Acer Welcome Center
Egis Software
Launch Manager
NewTech Acer Backup Manager

I just want to know which of these can I uninstall?

Thanks.

Matt

All of it. LOL. You don't need any of it.

Some of the software comes preinstalled due to Acer's advertising. "Protect yourself from spyware" type of ads.

Disabling start-up processes from these apps and use the comp for a while before you decide on uninstalling any of them.

You alone can decide which app(s) would be suited (or not) for your needs.

cheers ...

One thing I would definitely do is run the backup manager and create your restore DVDs before you uninstall any of it...

The only software I have left on my AOD250 that is from Acer is the CrystalEye webcam software. Otherwise its all history.

Did you create your restore DVDs before you junked all the Acer stuff

No. I am an ardent hater of bloatware so all that stuff went asap. As far as my recovery stuff I have a 1 TB Wstern Digital External HDD that I use for all my system restore stuff.

Anyway u can reinstall all that stuff from Empowering Technology (eRecovery) îf necessary, cos some of those things are useful. If you do not need Acer Arcade deLuxe, dont know why u bought a computer with that on it, cos that is dedicated to Blu.Ray CDs and photos, music, and all that. Also Grid-vista can be useful., but all that u can get back if necessary.

Has the thought crossed your mind that I bought the computer for a certain function within a certain price range and that it might have just so happened to include a software that I didn't need? I mean, we all know computer manufacturers never include bloatware... As far as the software being useful that may be but I prefer to use dedicated software of my choosing, not generic software that manufacturers try to push on me.

You should have Acer Empowering Technology on your comp, so the software is
already there...you just have to open Empowering Technology and Install it...

People may hate bloatware, but by making the restore disks, you at least have a copy of the Operating System should the HD crash...If not, then you better have a retail copy of the Operating System..
