D900K freezing; requires hardboot

I have a D900K, about four and half years old. Recently having problems with the screen freezing up. Happens roughly twice a day. I went to Win7 about a month ago and have been having problems with the screen locking up. Doesn't respond to anything but a hard reboot.

I think it's is a software or driver issue, but if I fail to find the culprit, I will no doubt be swapping out the ram, and/or drives, due to it's age. My question:

Does anyone know if it could be upgraded to support more than 2 gigs of ram? I am assuming the newest bios supports something larger than 2 gigs? Also, how large of drive would I be able to put in this? Thanks in advance.

When was the last time you took the machine (almost) apart to clean out dirt/dust and applying new thermal paste?

cheers ...

At least every two or three months or so. I take all covers off and spray it out with high pressure air and use a paint brush to dust off the fans. Temps have been normal. I redo thermal paste every two years.

I would try playing around with the ram modules first. Leave on out if you have 2 and test on at a time.

cheers ...
