Quiet ultraportable, which one?

Hello!

Long time, no see!!! Lots of new people around... many old timers still here

So, I couldn't buy a new notebook and not come here to get advice, right? With the years and the age, my needs shifted completely:

- 11-13" widescreen, I guess 12" is the sweet spot.
- LED, matte or glossy, it does not matter.
- I would like 1440x900, but if it's WXGA, that's OK.
- Quiet. No noise, because "silence is golden" where I work.
- Cool. This is very important.
- Price: around $1000, +/- $200.

I've been looking at the Thinkpad X series, if that counts. I'm really outdated, so any recommendation is welcome!

Thank you and it does feel good to post here again!

Hi, Welcome Back!

I'm currently using the AW M11x which is awesome for gaming as well as portability. According to some rumors just the other day, in a little while it will be getting a processor update to one of the new Intel ULV Core i-Series which are fantastic.

Oh. by the way it starts out at $799, and can be configured from there.

It's very nice, I didn't know it. The price is very impressive, but I guess it won't be suitable for work. I mean, not a big deal, but an alien head doesn't seem suitable for presentations in front of 60 yrs old judges and such.

Quite stupid, I know. I hate conventions and stereotypes, but I'm not in a position to set the rules ("yet", hopefully).

Safe bet: I'm looking for a "boring" notebook.

Here's a nice boring Toshiba a good business style laptop....

Struggling to see the resolution you want on the screens from 11" to 14" though....

Thanks, good choice. Decent specs for 799, a bit on the heavy side but good size (13").

Resolution (WXGA+) is not a problem. Regular wxga (1280x800) is fine with me.

What about Asus? Nothing from them? I've found only an outdated ul20/ul30 at portableone...
