WTB: 7200RPM PATA Hard drive

I am looking to purchase the following upgrades for my laptop.

CPU: Looking for the older Pentium M CPUs in 533Mhz FSB. Anything greater than 1.73Ghz. These processors are called "Dothans" as they all have 2MB of L2 cache.
750 (1.86 GHz)
760 (2.0 GHz)
770 (2.13 GHz)
Will also consider one of the 400 FSB model CPUs for a possible Pinmod.
725 (1.6Ghz)
735 (1.7Ghz)
745 (1.8Ghz)

RAM: Looking for 2Gb of RAM. Two 1Gb modules. Will also consider 512Mb modules. Must be PC2 4200 DDR2 533.

Hard drive: Looking for 7200RPM hard drives for PATA interface. Really want something equal to or greater than 100GB. I'm not sure just how big they made the PATA hard drives at 7200RPM but I want the largest possible. Really only prefer to buy Hitachi brand drives.

Yeah sorry Skillz I know I said I'd sell you HDD's down the road but I ended up needing them all, lol. Somehow between when I talked to you and now I ended up with 2 more notebooks, and now have 4. Weird considering I don't have a company or anything.

I'm assuming you want a 7200RPM drive for greater speed? From the research I did when I was looking for a hard drive upgrade for my Asus Z71V, I found that large capacity 5400RPM hard drives actually have faster access speeds than 100GB 7200RPM drives (the largest capacity PATA drives at 7200RPM) due to greater data density. After figuring that out, I bought a 320GB 5400RPM Scorpio Blue drive from Western Digital and I've been very happy with it. Mine averages around 50MB/s read/write speeds according to HD Tune, ATTO, and HD Tach. So I'd recommend buying one of the drives I bought instead. As a plus, they're also easier to find.

Nice tip. Thanks. Is 320GB the largest PATA drive or do they make a bigger one?

It's the biggest one as far as I know. I'd be surprised if anyone's made one larger since I bought mine last year because everything's SATA now.

Yes I know. It's even difficult to find that 320GB model. Amazon has a few of them for under $90, I think I might pick up two. For just in case.
