HP NC6220

So I've just purchased this laptop for a descent deal as a secondary/field laptop. Looking to do some minor upgrades on it to give it a little more speed; RAM, CPU and hard drive.

It comes with the Mobile Intel 915GM Express Chipset and I'm curious to know if this model laptop is capable of the famous pin mod. If so, looks like I will be purchasing a cheap 1.6Ghz CPU for a pinmod.

Also does anyone know the largest, Hitachi 7200RPM PATA hard drive? Was it 100GB?

You should be able to install a 120GB 7200rpm with no issue. There are some larger size drive but I doubt that the comp can "really" see it unless you partition it.

Pin modding on this machine? I have no idea.

cheers ...

They make larger 120GB PATA harddrives at 7200+ RPM? For the life of me, I can't seem to find PATA hard drives anywhere anymore. What gives.

If they just need to be partitioned before used on the comp, that's perfectly fine as I would rather have multi partitions anyway, since this is mostly going to be used a mobile laptop that I can easily carry around, but I want it to be quick.

I am pretty sure all the 915GM Express chipsets can be pinmodded, but I want to be sure. 1.7Ghz/400Mhz/2M CPUs are cheap these days.

Was really wanting to steer away from ordering off Ebay, was hoping a place like NewEgg or Tigerdirect would have them, but it seems they don't.
