From Davos World Wide Business Conference came the new of WePAD. a Linux Tablet to be in stores this July 2010.

First "glance" - more like first read for me

. 800g in weight
. 2 versions: a thin (€450) and a thick (€570) with HD screen, max to 1.3cm
. Linux based
. many preloaded software

Partners currently are Neofonie, 4tiiToo, Intel, Adobe, Siemens. Over 20.000 pre-orders have been dished out.

Two USB ports allow users to connect all kinds of devices with the WePad, from external keyboards to data sticks.
I'll be interested in the reviews for this.

Looking like Apple opted for a smaller display - larger screen bezel according to the usable surface.

Well, the 1st on-hand experience came back from a customer ... It was just another non-Apple Tab with loads of hiccups that yet to be updated.

- Jerkiness in playing video
- hard to see screen content at certain normal angles
- appstore is still in infancy

Good thing: very responsive and fluid screen navigation and touch.

The company is hoping to have the fixes real soon!

The man (general manager) in the pic in the first post resigned after signing on (as not himself at the company) to Amazon Online-Shop to give a positive feedback on the product

Too enthusiastic?
