Hello

I am trying to fix an hp g7030eo computer. The first problem I had was the HDD broke so I bouht a new SATA HDD and tried to install windows VISTA and after copying the files and started install it I get a blue screen with the message 0x0000008e so , I removed both the memory and switched with another working memory and tried to install but with the same result, I also disabled SATA on bios but with the same result.

I have tried all I can and now I dont have any more idea's and need your help.

Can you give me more ideas?

Try running a memtest just to be sure about the ram (and ram socket)?

Here is what it says

A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.
if this the first time you've seen this stop error screen, restart your computer. if this screen appears again, these steps.

Check to be sure you have adequate disk space. if the driver is identified in the sto message. disable the driver or check with the manufacturer for driver updates. try hanging video adapters.
check with your hardware vendor for any bios update. disable bios memory option such as caching or shadowing. if you need to use safe mode etc... to do the rest I need a working windows which I dont.

tecincal information
*** STOP:0x0000008e (0xc0000005,0x88956e5f, 0x862a78ac,0x00000000)

that is what it said....

Lie you guys said , I have changed both the memory and socket and the problem start when the windows is installing and is about to begin installing updates, and the last thing on the list was finishing, but I dint get that far.

Bummer. I was trying to see if the "new" drive itself is DOA or not. Can you share the full model number of that WD drive that you bought?

No, the HDD is not DOA because, just while we sending forward and back these messages I managed to install an XP on the pc and it works, even though its a vista pc, so it cant be the hdd. But I have tried to use 2 different VISTA OEM, could it be that my VISTA DVD is not that good?

Bad disks do occur. That was part of my query to you above, but it is rare with OEM disk.

Glad to hear that it worked out for you. You mentioned that you tweaked some BIOS settings, might want to set it back to default and try again with Vista if you want.

Tanx for your help, I am going to try to get another OEM disc and try that, cause the PC has to have VISTA (since it came with that and also that is how my friend wanted to be)

Than you for your help and I will enable back SATA in the bios. If you or anyone else who read this have another solution to my problem I will be happy to read these too.

Tanx everyone!
