It was time for new laptop, donated old Dell XPS M170 to family member. My first impression was it was a little larger and heavier than I imagined.
What's in the Box:
Included in the box was the laptop, battery, power adapter, restore software and users manual.
Design
Love the purple cover w/ its texture and the case angled shape?
Screen:
Outstanding picture quality, some glare when viewed from side angle. In daylight more difficult to view from angle must be straight on screen. Nightlight no problems. No dead pixels found.
Keyboard
The keyboard is very comfortable, keys are very responsive, keypad included, the function keys are useful and easy to reach
Touchpad
The touch-pad is very sensitive with little difference between pad surface and laptop surface, scroll pad w/zoom in and out is included.

Video and audio multimedia keys.

Wifi sign locator LED.

Dell Wireless 1397 802.11g has a strong signals?
Speakers
There are outstanding speakers built in for music, media, and gaming use. It has a integrated High Definition Audio

Front:
No ports on the fronts of the notebook
Webcam Pictures
Is there a built in 1.3 M pixels webcam with OK quality of the pictures?
Right Side:
2 headset jacks, microphone jack, USB 2.0 port (need more), slot-load optical drive and power port.
Left Side:
Gigabit Ethernet, USB 2.0 and USB/eSATA Combo Port, VGA Port, HDMI Port, Express Card, 8 in 1 media card reader.
Rear:
Exhaust ports on both sides
Bottom:
Battery and fan intakes on the bottom notebook.
Size and Weight
Weight: 5.2 lbs. Size 14.0 Inch and easy to carry around comfortable.
Heat and Noise
Heat no problem, frequent operation of fans could become annoying.
Battery Life
How is the battery life while idling 3.5 hrs. Surfing the web and watching videos 2.5 hrs
Software
Dell restore software included.
Pros: Size, Display, and Back-lit Keyboard
Cons: Price, Battery life, and Useless software
Conclusion: I enjoy using the system and would buy it again.
