Acer Aspire 5942G freezes

Hello people!

I'm having big problems with my NEW Aspire 5942G. I bought it last week, everything worked just fine, till last week when he crashed for the first time. I was playing Grand Theft Auto 4 and the screen freezed. I restarted it and everything worked well (i didn't played any games in the mean time) until yesterday.

I was working in Photoshop than the laptop restarted. He didn't even wanted to boot anymore, he restarted many more times. When he worked again i was trying to render a video....again : restarting. I went outside with the laptop and tried to render the video again. It worked! So...i guess the problem is that when he gets to warm he suddenly restarts...

But there's one more problem : when i move the laptop from a place to another, he restarts again. I just don't get it. It's a brand new laptop, as i told you, bought it last week. What can i do? I really need it and i cannot send it to the service becuase it will take too long...

To be honest I would not muck about with it since it is brand new. Send it back and have it repaired or replaced. You might have a lemon on hand.

First of all it's kind of annoying sending it to the service, because it will take too much to repair. Second of all i must reinstall everything on it... ( it can't be true. Did they even test those laptops before selling them??

You can try to re-install everything and hopefully it will work. It is hard to test (burn) every single piece before shipping out, financially it is not feasible for notebook manufacturers. And ACER is not alone in having a lemon now and then. Every manufacturer has it, some might be worse than others.

I can sympathize with your frustration, but not much we consumers can do about it other than hoping for a quick repair/replacement/return.

thanx for your quick reply! i guess there's a hardware problem since i'm moving the laptop and it restarts... reinstalling everything is crazy anyway i'll wait, maybe someone else had the same problem. if not i'll call the service tommorow morning. heard that acer service s** bigtime. is that true?

I never had any problems with ACER service myself. To tell the truth, there is bad instance and there are many good instances of services. Never go by what others say.

Its quite possible some program you have added since you bought it.
If its new, why not use your recovery CDs that you made and put it back into the same condition as when you bought it. See if it still freezes
