Linux Notebook

Hi,

I'm new here and I saw around on the internet I would have most change finding someone here able to help me best, so here goes..

I'm looking for a Linux notebook being able to play some games in WINE.
I've no idea about the distros, but ubuntu seems the easiest choice as i'm not sure wine works on other distros.

I mostly want to play football manager on it so it needs to have decent cpu/ram etc..

Price range should be something like 700=800 euros, more or less if possible..

Thanks

Most laptops, if not all commercially available ones unfortunately come with windows... Generally it is the netbooks that come with a version of Linux pre installed...

I would get a laptop that suits your needs, you want games, go with a laptop with a big hard drive, 4Gbs of RAM and most important a separate video chip ie ATI or Nvidia...

Then the easiest linux distro to get is Ubuntu... Dual boot it with windows...

take a look at system76.com as they carry laptops shipped with ubuntu

I know what I need to play my games, only thing is I have no experience with laptops.. I can dualboot with windows ofc but would prefer just Linux.
But what I'm most looking for is someone who can tell me: I got laptop X, it would be good for you, or I got laptop Y and don't buy that one... As I have no ideas which brands are good in the notebook world

Good brands are... Expensive - Alienware, Samsung, ASUS, Toshiba... Mid range - HP, gateway...
Cheap... Acer...

These are just some and they all sort of cross range... Get a mindset for games you play and look for a laptop around that.. All have good and bad points, all have this and not that.. A lot is in the 'eye of the beholder'.. I have some gateway's that most people would toss out as garbage, but they do the job and one is still working after being hammered by teenage step daughter... True gaming laptops are not cheap, like the Alienwares, but it is down to what games you play, budget and what looks good to you... My preferences is a laptop is not a gaming or video editing machine, I have desktops for that and with gaming now, I would advise on a PS3 or XBOX360 over any gaming PC or laptop, but hey thats my view...
