Dell Refusing to replace Damaged DVDs caused by them

So my girlfriend just received her new dell studio 1458 and the dvd drive just wreck 2 dvds, the sims 3 and modern warfare 2. There is now a circle ring etched onto each dvd by the dvd drive,

Now the dvds are not readable anymore, speaking to technical support right now and they refused to replace those dvds, she just received this computer and this drive is already faulty!

Any advice guys? Spoke to a supervisor and all he said dell will replace the dvd drive and I am thinking no sh*t sherlock of course you have to

Not likely Dell will do anything for the DVDs, but depending how deep the scratches are you maybe able to get them repaired,

Some computer stores offer the service, or you can buy the kits yourself.

failing that, go get a ISO copy and use your exisitng Key.

the problem is those games have cd checks so they check whether the game is a legitimate version or not and then you would have to install a crack just to play it sometimes i feel that is annoying.

I might just tell my girlfriend to just complain to dell because they swap her xps m1330 out with a studio 14 and the customer service at xps was bad but the non xps customer service is worst, maybe they'll hopefully give her back an xps system instead.

its unfortunate about the dvd,s...but i was going to say dell should at least replace the dvd player, and looks like they are...unfortunately, dell will probably do nothing about the dvd,s...i quess you can ask a lawyer,,but its probably not worth the time and money..its just one of those things, they will just say you did not insert it correctlly,,,on and on.....i doubt if any company would replace the dvd,s.....you might see who made the dvd player , and call them..they are more responsible than dell...dell just buys parts and put them together.

Thats bs, they should replace them so long as you send them in with the dvd player, it sounds like faulty firmware not so much the dvd player. Like did it attempt to burn to a closed media disk? only bad firmware wouldve done such a thing in my opinion.

dell is just going to finally give her a studio xps 16, she originally had a xps 1330 that had been serviced over 4 times cause of the gpu. They gave her the studio 1458 but they are going to now send her a studio xps 16. Sucks there is no studio xps 13 system.
