DV6-2190US BIOS Update, is it recommended or not????

HP has posted a BIOS update on their website for the DV6-2190US laptop. The update is listed as F.1AA and claims to "improve system fan behavior". This laptop has a quad core I7, 720 QM clarksfield processor so anything to better control heat would be good to consider. I am usually never hesitiant to update a BIOS, even on the numerous laptops I have owned, but....I have noticed HP had some of their BIOS updates bricking their laptop lately.

Has anyone flashed their DV6-2190 with this update yet?

If so any issues? Any benefits to the new BIOS?
Thanks in Advance!

I usually don't update BIOS unless there is a need for it. And I personally never had any borked BIOS updates, yet.

On this specific model, sorry. Hopefully someone with this model can confirm a yes or no for you. Good luck.

Well...I looked for information elsewhere and found nothing. So... I just updated my BIOS using the HP package (BIOS + Installer package) without any problems. I took the usual pre-cautions and disabled my Anti-Virus protection and exited most of my apps. The update went fine without any hitches. I have not found any discernable changes within the user BIOS screens or the operation of the laptop.

Hi all!
I did exactly the same, downloaded the bios update, installed it, but when booting it froze completely on HP logo! (Might have been because I didn't disable the Anti Virus Software!) I tried everything you can imagine, like take battery out and hold power button for a minute or so, calling HP Tech help, who could not help me. So the only sollution was to take out the HD of the laptop, hook it up to my spear Laptop and re-format the whole thing! Then just re-installed Win7 with Recovery Discs and all worked well!

Although, there is one option or adjustmen I wish I could do in the Bios setup: To set Bios to AHCI mode, but can't seem to see this option. And I assume there would be no change in options if I updated the bios again to F.1AA?

Anyone got any exsperience with this?

Cheers!
