Inspiron 9300 WUXGA screen on M90

I moved my WUXGA 9300 screen to my new M90. It works okay and looks gorgeous, but it's 'off' position is solid white. Meaning when the screen turns 'off' it goes to solid white.

Anyone know why this is happening or what I could do?

I'm running the A08 Dell BIOS and I have a Quadro FX 1500m.

Did you move the inverter with the screen when you swapped it out?

I just took the one screen out and put it in the other, really. The inverter was still attached.

Any ideas?

you may need the oroginal inverter from your M90

they are usually laptop specific and work in conjuction with the GPU

I can give that a try anyway. If it isn't that, got any other ideas?

When the screens off, do you mean the lids closed? you can try manually turning off the screen using a shortcut like this...at least in xp for sure, win7 possibly.

My screen just goes white.

And is putting the 1440x900 inverter thingy on the 9300 WUXGA screen dangerous to the screen at all?

Wrong inverter won't hurt the screen, just making it acting funny

A friend of mine told me that it could be using different voltages or something and that it's risky. Is this a possibility? I don't have another 200 dollars to buy a new LCD, so I want to make REALLY sure before I do this ><.

Different voltage? Probably. I doubt that inverter would burn LCD. At least with all my LCDs and inverter replacements so far on many brands/models. But I share your concern, maybe if we can have a few more input here.

cheers ...

I never heard of it buring a LCD

they work or they dont., or don't work properly

It's probably the inverter not acting right with vcards bios. It happens with using newer screens with older cards, but only on laptops I think
