travelmate 2450 doesn't start

My Notebook acer travelmate 2450 doesn't start correctly.
After boot, only appears the following msg "operation system not found". Futhermore, I can't boot linux or windows by CDROM, because when I open the "boot menu" only has the network drive, my cdrom,my HD and other devices don't appear there.
Moreover, in Setup my HDD serial number and HDD model name are with "strange code" visibly an error!
I suspect my motherboard is broken.

If you can POST and your BIOS works, then your motherboard is probably fine. It sounds more likely to me that your hard drive is damaged or broken. If you can borrow a friend's hard drive, try booting to that and see if it works.
