Yes.
If you get it before I do I would love to test it.

For a while I was buying a new Alienware every year. I've since slowed down... and it's becoming every other year. I really think my next purchase will be the M11x soon.

I read mixed reviews on the m11x Steve.

Many do not think the screen is all the great.

Have you checked them out yet at a local BB ?

( I am going to have to drop in one myself)

Wouldn't dell have a new bios for DL with the release of the 58xx series cards ? (soon)

Not necessarily. Admittedly, this is my first notebook purchase, but I've never had to update a mobo BIOS to install a new GPU on a desktop.

I had to, when the ATI 4870x2 desktop cards came out, Mobo would not boot with them before the BIOS update, was a real pain in the a..

I returned my M11x 3 days after I bought it. It was honestly one of the worst screens Ive ever had. Keyboard also left a lot to be desired. It played Borderlands just fine.

I take it you didn't get it on Friday.

No, but it did ship.

OK well that at least means the bios is out there in the wild.

I would pay 1300 for the m11x if it came with a RGB LED, no joke. I suppose I'll be waiting for the revision and until then I'll just stick with my m17x-r2 and Area-51 m15x combination, so far so good.

My M17x is dieing a slow and painful death. It has "eaten" 3 hard drives, 2 sodimms and 1 keyboard. My system needs to be returned but I'm trying to hold out for the new bios to test the 5870. Sooner or later this thing won't boot anymore.

What do you mean eating Hard Drives? I'm kinda shocked/worried about this statement I have nearly 600-700 dollars locked up in SSD Drives across the board, and if my system eats them that'll be quite painful and costly

Three drives have died on me. One was kind of my fault because I initiated a firmware upgrade. Although that should not brick it, it did. Then I lost the original two hard drives the system came with. When this kind of high failure rate happens with hard drives it's more than likely a faulty controller. I'm just afraid to keep adding more hard drives.

Maybe that's why they are taking sweet time to test out the refresh version.

cheers ...

Well I got my RMA number, it's going back. Back to playing with just the Asus again. I think I'll just do a desktop next time.

Maybe you can squeeze a refresh (as replacement) out of them

cheers ...

I use a desktop and 2 laptops now and hopefully by spreading out my usage none of my systems break. I'd be upset of all of my systems break . But I know I've been through 4 INtel SSD drives starting with the G1, so hard drive failures are common themed for me, yet I still love them .

I've always said that once you go SSD, you'll always go SSD, just sucks I had to get 3 of 'em, lol. including the ones that broke I've been through a total of 6!

I didn't even fight it. I see some of the bugs that existed in my first R2 that are still there. It gets frustrating after a while.

Yes.
If you did end up getting yours I wouldn't mind a backup copy of the vbios of one of the 5870s. TIA!
