I do want the RGB LED screen, and if I am going to dump 4K again I want USB 3 as well.

it sucks that the re-sale values have dropped so much on the R1 lol
Clevo has jumped the gun on everyone

Maxing that system out will be comparably priced to the M6500.

I always wonder what one would possibly do with such/so much power on a notebook Maybe less than 10% of the time when one needs that power.

The new system is in. Check out the benchmarking section.

I also ordered a M15x that I want to use to compare with the G73.

This is cool. You might want to get another thread going about the HD5870 performers? We can follow it probably better seeing different manufacturers on the same specs.

And what's the difference the m15 would do if it has the same HD5870 configuration other than the screen size?

cheers ...

I will put the 5870 card that normally comes with the Clevo systems in the M15x. They have better driver support.

Close the saga regarding me and the M17x. I returned it today and that will be my last one unless they over-haul it. I wanted to do a lot more benchmarking but when you struggle with functionality versus the hurdles that benchmarking brings, you just get frustrated too quickly and it's no longer fun. The current Dell 5870 drivers are the only drivers that work with that system. Plus all my M17xR2 systems had posting issues. Right now I just have my M15x and I will run with that for a while.

I have not been a fan of ATI cards in some time, I would prefer (if even slower) NVIDIA fermi or what ever.

I am still hurting from my last ATI Desktop cards saga, Bought 2 of the 4700 series Dual GPU cards for a Quad setup. and then went through 6 months of hell trying to get one of them fixed - had to send it to China.

let alone the flakey drivers.

I blame Dell more than ATI. They released this system without proper functionality for the 5870s.

NW, you're just going to buy whatever the latest and greatest is anyway and then toss it aside after a little while, so there's no need to get upset over it.
