M17x is the last of it's kind. I really wanted it to work. With that said I've been testing Dell's version of the 5870 in my M15x and so far it runs flawlessly. Dell's issue is obviously with crossfire.

Just change the ATI CrossFire to SLI even if is just a GTX260M SLI config you end up a cooler and faster laptop just like me...

Unfortunately Alienware doesn't
sell the R2 with nvidia cards it would be awsome with GTX285M thinking to get a couple of them...
Nothing i can say for ati...its performance index compared to gtx260 with R2 just awful

I would take a single 5870 over dual 2XXM nvidia any day. The 4XXM series is another story.

Just going to get my within a week or so. My replacement been approved yesterday it's my 3rd alienware m17x and 2nd r2 replacement within 6 months i "like" chat with customer service...Specially when some alienqueen stopping my replacement process, due lack of confirmation "i been told" ,so i need to get the manager on the horn. Then complain about the procedure+ explain that, the mail was there on the same hour, he sent it to me....never mind spec going to be:
