Battery light blinking pink MX 6920

Guys,

My battery light will come on and charge but only when I have my laptop turned off???

Kinda weird, right when I turn it on and it goes to the windows screen, the screen will flicker in and out as the laptop starts to register the AC charger...

When it's in hibernate or off completely it charges fine, then right when I start it up...it only will run on battery but it will kick on the charger for a minute every so often and flash the pink (not red) charging light...

I've removed and replaced the battery, and unplugged the charger, plugged it back in...wiggled the connection in the back of the laptop...turn computer on/off.

No difference...any ideas?

I'm comfortable with changing the charging jack but I just don't want to if that's not the issue.

My little green light on my actual AC charger comes on fine but it's the computer charging light that flickers on and off.

Thanks for any suggestions,

Donnie

Just wanted to add that this keeps getting weirder...

The laptop charges fine as long as it's in stand by, hibernate or off.

The second that I turn it on, the battery light goes out and then will flash "purple/pink" every so often.

Right when I put it back in a "low power state" it starts charging right up??

Does this sound like battery, charger or charging jack?

Soundsssss like it's not able to draw enough current, aka your charger. Try another one with a higher wattage. If you can't find the right connection you could just solder yours. Either that or if the laptop also measures voltage then that thing might be busted inside the ac adapter (dell ones have that), causing the laptop to 'think' it can only get a certain voltage, which might not be enough.

Either way, try a different charger, hopefully it's that, it certainly sounds like a plain old power issue.

If you do get to try another "brick" or adapter, make sure it has the same specs as listed on the original. More voltage/amperage may also do harm to internal components.

True that on the voltage.
