RAM advice for incoming M4400...

Thread Starter
I just got a great deal on the Precision M4400 I've been looking for.

I intent to do video editing on it, and it comes with XP Pro 64-bit.

It only has 4GB of RAM, though.

So my questions are:

(1) This is my first time on a 64-bit OS -- is it worth upgrading the RAM to 8GB? Will I notice a difference, especially when video editing?

(2) Dell sells the 8GBs for about $500 but I found "Patriot" brand on NewEgg for $330 -- anyone know if "Patriot" brand RAM is any good? They have "Corsair" too but I read a review from a user who claimed his M4400 wouldn't take the "Corsair" RAM so he switched to "Patriot". The more expensive RAM from Dell seems to be PNY and I think they also stock Kingston sometimes.

Thanks for your time -- any advice would be greatly appreciated!

you should be good with the 4 GB, but I have seen 4 GB DIMMS on ebay for under $ 200.00, which should be good enough, it's not like your going to be over clocking the stuff.
