the silvery part on the sides is starting to wear away, I can now see the gray plasticy undersurface

Is there any paint I can buy to eliminate it?

If you keep those "things" off of the computer and on your seat, you might not have that problems.... hhehehehe

It seems to happen on all Sager laptops. I had the same problem with my 8500's paint being rubbed off because I was typing on it too much. I managed to get part of that replaced only to see that new wrist guard begin to rub off.

I'm giving my new 8790 about a year before its paint begins to rub off because of too much use. I have this little doiley type mat or whatever I made a long time ago, so I rest my right arm on it, hoping to save the paint.

Tip: When the paint starts rubbing off, send it to PCT and they'll paint it to last longer.

or both of you could have a rare disease, my friend has it. it is call hyper-hydrosis, and you palms and feet sweat so much that you constatly wet there SICK but he has had many lappys and all of his have eaten edges, even where he sits at the dinner talbe the finish on the wood has been rubbed off from him resting his hands. but my guess is that is not your case. but you never know.........deep down inside we all have a little freak in us

could we just use the other keyboard instead of lappy's keyboard?

my paint is still holding up quite well (15 months into it), so I'm as happy as a clam.

How happy are clams, anyway? Not as happy as that squirrel, I bet.

well this is the strange thing
the paint is wearing off near the back corner of the laptop ... the front part is ok. Its like somone was rubbing the corners with smooth sand paper.

The paint on my 8790 is pretty much shot where my left palm rests and the right side is playing a slow game of catch-up. Can actually feel where my left palm rests because of how the paint is reacting to me. My hands don't usually sweat, but since the wristpad area of the 8790 is so hot, it must be making my palms sweat (I check- they feel hot, but not wet )

Alkaline, is the corner of your laptop near anything at all? Do you move your laptop a lot? If you do, is it dragging across anything? (like the power wire- and after daily contacts is wearing it down- just a thought)
