HP has officially announced the Envy 14 and Envy 17. Both sporting new Intel Core i5/i7 processors and Ati Graphics. The Envy 13 will be replaced with the Envy 14. No word on the Envy 15.

I personally am looking forward to buying a Envy 14.

Very interested in this 14 inch unit.

Best of all, they come with slot-loading DVD drives! The main detraction from the Envy 15 for me was that it doesn't have a DVD drive. If I only had money, I'd be looking at the Envy 14 too.

While I agree with that statement I have a comment to add about slot-loading BD drives: My slot-loading Blu-Ray drive on the XPS 16 has a peculiar habit of lightly marring discs. The disc is still playable however there is a small 'scuff mark' on the disc...

I can see that being a problem over time. I myself have never OWNEd a notebook with a slot loading drive. I've only reviewed them so I have no idea about long term effects.

It doesn't happen all of the time, but every now and again my discs will get scuffed.

I'm thinking of replacing my XPS 16 in another year or so- Just not too happy with the amount of heat it produces. (I'll take this topic to another thread I promise )

The slot drive I swapped out for my M6805 is still working after 4 years. And no complaint on the macbook slot drive here either.

Good that HP learns from its Envy15 issues, the 14 and 17 are definitively a good refresh for this Envy series.

cheers ...
