Requesting help on replacing laptop screen

Hello there

I recently broke my laptop screen (it received a bare-knuckle). Its a nearly 4-year old Dell Inspiron 1501. The screen size is 15.4". I'm having trouble trying to figure out if the laptop is usable again and how exactly I should go about fixing it.

I did some research and I know I need a new LCD screen. I found some sellers on eBay but I have some questions. I'm chiefly scared that I might purchase an incompatible LCD screen.

1. My laptop originally has a non-glossy screen. Will it still work if I replace it with a glossy one?

2. I read some things about matching the screen pixel sizes. How do I figure out what my pixel sizes are for my laptop? I know for sure that it was set at 1280x800 pixels before I broke it but I'm not sure its right. The screens I found on eBay are all only available in 1280x800.

3. What does 'WXGA' mean? Will having this make it compatible or incompatible for my laptop?

4.

Here's the list of screens I can choose from.

I'm basically just confused about what screen I should get and have to make sure its the right one.

Thanks a lot. I appreciate the help. I've been living without a computer for two weeks now and its just agony :\

Any ones on the link will do you fine. W = widescreen, if you want it. Want to be sure, take a look at the part number at the back of your screen and match it.

cheers ...

Thanks. If the part number matches, does it mean that it will all work out?
