Clevo D470k Screen White

Clevo D470k screen is solid white with some vertical bands. I replaced the casing as it had cracked. After re-assembly laptop started up perfectly and ran for two hours. Closed lid and after an hour when opened it was solid white. Suspected the lcd screen cable had been pinched which upon examination showed some squashed wires. Replaced the cable with a new one but screen is still white. Will check video card with external monitor but any other suggestions would be very welcome.

We just have to wait for the external monitor. Hopefully it is just a LCD issue and not a GPU problem.

External monitor displays boot screen ok and the Windows XP screen ok but the laptop keeps re-starting. Starting in safe mode the boot gets to gagp30kx.sys then hangs for 5 or so secs then re-starts. Seems I have two problems. Maybe when the screen was closed the laptop did not hibernate and then overheated. Maybe replacing the casing has damaged something else such as static or a component was moved causing a poor connection, but then why did it start ok immediately after re-assembly and why does it get so far with the boot?

Thanks

Leaving the laptop on it eventually booted up without crashing but the screen is still white! Maybe a file is corrupted? Checked the cable connections which seem fully in so looking likely that it is the lcd.

Maybe a re-install would help. Run a chkdsk also first.

Thanks for your help so far. As the computer did manage to start, except running through an external monitor, it looks like the LCD is bust but just want to rule out anything else. Just seems odd that at first after re-assembly it worked fine. Can the LCD be damaged from too much heat? Maybe there is a bad connection and I will try to check it more thoroughly. Looking from a low angle there are some vertical bands on the screen. I have to make a decision wether to repair or not but buying a replacement LCD unit may not actually solve the problem so the decision is not even straight forward. Thanks again.

I would definitively review the cable and connections again for sure. Hard to say about (internal) heat damaging LCD, mostly back lights go out or bad inverter.

Yet another attempt!

After replacing lcd cable and then the invertor I ended up replacing the laptop, could not be without something that worked. After leaving it a few months I decided to try a new lcd screen which still gives the same result, a dull white screen although I could not see any vertical lines. The GPU must be OK for it to display on an external monitor so maybe the connector on the mother board has a broken connection. Not much left to try! Any other suggestions?

Try review the connections and before you put the lcd frame back on, turn on power and wiggle different connecting spots and see if you can get any screens.
