Toshiba Video Drivers are old?

After spending ages trying to fix the 3 minute long load times for Bad Company 2, i found that I cant update my ATI drivers because apparently Toshiba make their own drivers.

After installing and STILL no fix for load times, i looked on DXdiag and found that their latest release drivers are from 08/09/2009!

WTF? Is there anyone who knows if there are any tweaks i can make to an official AMD driver so it will be compatible with my toshiba laptop?

I have the L500/013 with the 4650HD 1GB. Vista 32bit. Any help anyone?

Try this....

Download the latest catalyst/omega drivers for the 4650.... Extract them and try to install, let it fail and reboot... Go into device manager and video adaptor, right click, properties and go into the update driver bit... Update the driver and choose to NOT search online and choose to search for them yourself... In the new menu, choose to search yourself and point to a location - the folder where the ATI drivers unzipped themselves to on the C drive and see if you can install the .inf files that way.. If that doesn't work (it gets a little more complicated to explain) you need to 'force' the driver using the 'have disc' method and again pointing to the unzipped driver... I have had to use this many times to force ATI drivers to install on win2k systems....

This may not affect the load times of bad company, try defragging the hard drive and running a disk cleanup to clear out TEMP files...

Should this involve me uninstalling my current drivers?

It is always best to uninstall previous GPU driver before applying new one.

Create a restore point first before removing the current driver.

cheers ...

You can do, sometimes it is better to upgrade by leaving the old ones in on XP, Vista and 7...
