Yes, it converts it. But like the error-check, it has to do it on the next reboot (before the whole OS is loaded).

It does take some time, so make sure you have a cold brew or something while it's working.

If I remember correctly, when you convert a file system from FAT32 to NTFS it doesn't correctly set all the security permissions (Owner, read / write, system files, hidden files) and it leaves your machine vulnurable to a local attack. This shouldn't be a real problem if this is just your laptop and you run it behind a firewall, but you should never do this on a server.

What type of brew do you recommend?

FAT32 has no security permissions (other than read/write and hidden/system). No "Owner" information that I am aware of...

Here is an interesting Link on this stuff... I forgot, you CAN go back to Fat32 from NTFS via Partition Magic, but I do not know of anyone who wanted to or tried it.

A server would never be on FAT32 anyway (let's hope).

So I guess NTFS is the way to go.

xp Problmes

Okay I installed XP pro but my 5670 crashes after each level of BAttlefield 1942. I have the current drivers that came with the 5670: DirectX 9.0a and 128MB M9. I put the video settings to 16bit 1024 x 768 and it still crashes.

I am going to reinstall XP Pro again and see if it works better.................it hasn't worked better so I want to install Windows 2000 professional as my OS since BF1942, never crashed even at the highest resolution when I had Windows 1942. Since my hdd is partitioned, it has been a hassle for me.

XP is not my cup of tea for games anyways. So please someone post on how I can F/disk or reformat my HDD all over again and go back to Win2000 Professional. I loved that operating system

I have already backed up any files to the CDR and now just want to start over with 2000 profesional.

The sooner the better becasue I can't sleep tonight untill my 5670 stops CRASHING! Thanks in advance.

See my reply to your other (duplicate) post.
