Satellite X200 does not boot up

i have exactly the same problem as on this thread

http://forums.computers.toshiba-euro...1756&tstart=15

The thread is locked and the question is answered...
Well, it does not exactly say where the bios jumpers are and i cannot ask the user himself, so i will ask here.

Is there a way to make a bios hard reset on a toshiba x200-21T... all the hardware seams to be fine, the only thing is that when i turn it on everything starts working for 3 seconds and then everything shuts down, the only lights left turned on are the cable one and the powerON one...

thank you!

The way I read it was that the user "jumped" the GPU card and not the BIOS chip itself. Can you verify that against your card?

u mean... if i disconnect the GPU and start the pc?

the problem is that i cannot find any jumpers nor bios... i searched the internet and could not find any info other then dissasembly guides and problems described in text... and the computer is acting exactly the same as the bios was somehow stuck, which gives me hope...

if u have any more ideas what should i check please let me know... i had so many problems with this toshiba that i will definetly not bring it back to the shop, currently i'm abroad and i'll stay abroad for half year more and the warranty is over... i'd really like to repair it myself, if i can ofcourse...

thank for the reply though

I think that what's the poster in Toshiba meant. Remove the GPU and see if you can jump the switch on the card itself. Or remove the CMOS battery for a few minutes and hope that the BIOS can be reset.

yeah i jst checked the battery... its welded on to the motherboard so i just disconnected the upper part for a few minutes and then stick both ends together... no luck, the computer still start only for few seconds with nothing on the screen... and again i could not find any jumpers...

i guess its as good as gone...

I am afraid so. Since you have nothing to lose, try "baking" the whole board - be sure that you remove the CMOS battery and other plastic dings on it first.

''baking'' - i'm not sure if i understand i perfectly... the problem with the battery is that its not easy to remove... and there for sure is no other way to ''hard reset'' the bios?

tnx man...

Baking is just that, baking in the oven - kinda an oxymoron word here at NBF Search our forum for it or take a troll to Dell Section. And I realize that Toshiba is not so friendly as far as installing (soldering) CMOS battery.

As far as resetting the BIOS, as mentioned above, removing the CMOS battery should do the trick, if not the next step would have to send the comp in for someone that can reprogram the chip.

buah... baking in the oven sounds interesting but this one would be a bit too much for my knowledge i'll try removing the battery one more time, maybe i'll have more luck, otherwise another computer is going to replace this ''2'n'1/2 years of misery'' from this toshiba...

tnx
