Acer Extensa Keyboard Issue

hi, i'm new to the forums so i hope this is posted in the right spot. i am having a strange issue with my extensa 4230 keyboard, everything was working fine yesterday i was playing a game i'd just installed and after exiting the game properly i noticed the keyboard wasn't working. i did some searching online and found some who said it could be caused by a trojan, so i did a scan with my av which found and removed a trojan, restarted to make sure and keyboard still was not working. uninstalled drivers and restarted again, keyboard still not working, attempted system restore twice, once to when keyboard was working and once to earliest restore point, keyboard still not working after both attempts. ran hjt and removed what shouldn't have been listed, still not working. tried reseating keyboard to see if cable could have come loose still no working keyboard. started thinking that it may be caused by a corrupt file so did a fresh install of os, which is windows 7 ultimate x86, still not working. there are no beeps during boot and the whole time device manager lists the keyboard as working correctly. sorry for the long post but thought i'd post everything i'd already tried, hoping someone out there will have an idea how to fix this since i'm stumped at this point. also i don't have access to a usb keyboard, i am currently using the built in on-screen keyboard. thanks for any help anyone can give me.

Take the keyboard out and reseat the connector, it may have jogged loose in the excitement of game play, enough for win7 to see it ok, but not enough to work... Also reseat the RAM modules and take the battery out, disconnect the mains and hold the power button on for about 20 seconds...

tried reseating kb yesterday, it didn't help, reseated ram and did hardware reset w/ cables dc'd did not work, laptop is run off ac power only, no battery is hooked up. getting usb kb today and bringing pc into shop tomorrow to replace kb. hoping that will work, would be too expensive to replace motherboard. thanks for the tip though.
