U405D Video Problem

Thread Starter
This is a year old Satellite U405D-S2874 running Vista Ultimate 64 bit. Just yesterday when I turned it on the desktop appears to be set at a very low resolution but in fact it is not. Also, everything that was previuously black (for example the bootup BIOS screen) is now green. I tried system restore with no change. Also tried a new video driver. I did find that when the lid is closed part way the desktop image returns to normal, but then when I open it all the way it returns to the low resolution image. This laptop has in the past had an overheating problem (turns off by itself) and I wonder if this could be related? For instance a video chip problem?

Thanks for any assistance.

Check your cable connections. Could be a bad cable if you can see good pictures from certain positions of the lid.

cheers ...
