Aspire 7720 ZG Display remains dark

Hello,
I've got a 7720 ZG NB as defective - No Graphic! When i
plugged in my external 19" Monitor via VGA-Connector i get
the Acer Logo and be able to select Booting options.
But the Screen with ACER Logo has lines and is flickering.
I'm able to start VISTA in "SAFE-Mode" but with "normal" startup the System hangs. Some Linux-Life systems will boot completely, but Display flickers, has wrong colours and stripes. The startup without the external Monitor failes while
the NB-Display remains dark! Any suggestions what nature this Problem could be? I thought about Graphics Card or the Inverter Interface Card.

Thanks alot for Help

I do believe that your GPU (graphic Processing Unit) is on its last legs.....which would mean a new motherboard....

@saugen48: As the specifications of the Aspire 7720 ZG (with Nvidia 8400M Graphics Card) say, it is a plugable
Graphics Card and not part of the Mothetboard! So the
Graphics Card needs to be replaced, right?

Cheers

I am not aware that this model allows the replacement of the GPU by itself. You would need the whole motherboard as Saugen mentioned.

cheers ...

There are very few laptop manufacturer/models which have replaceable GPU's. The big money in laptops is not parts replacement, but rather than whole unit replacements. Unless one can find a laptop on ebay with display problems but good motherboard, often times the replacement of the motherboard can be $200 plus....a good start towaards the price of a new one....the $200 is for the cost only not the labour to install it (which can be out of sight)
