DELL Studio 17 Design Flaws

Thread Starter
I have recently had trouble with the attachment of my laptops screen. The part that allows it to open and close. My computer guy says its because Dell has issues with design flaws and the part that kept it attached was made of plastic. My warrentys up and i may have to eventually send it back to DELL but my computer guy is trying to fix it. I want to know for reference when talking to DELL if anyone has had these issues with this type of laptop. Its basically lead to my laptops screen almost falling off. So if anyones had this issue please tell me, it will help alot.

Did you mean the latch for the lid or the hinges?

What type of trouble are you having? Hard to open? Not staying in one place?

NOt staying in one place as the plastic bits keeping it together are broken. I know whats wrong with it i need to know if people have had the same problems with this design flaw as i may eventually have to go to DELL about it but since im out of my warrenty its gonna cost a lot and i need confirmation that others have had the same problem

I have not seen/read complaints about this model hinges issue. Do you happen to have some pics to share?

If your out of warranty I would jut buy the hinges and the hindge covers on Ebay (If you Can)

Hindges are about $ 20.00 or so.

I have not heard anything either on the Studio 17 hindges, but google the internet on the topic and see if others have reported it.

I agree with qhn, post a picture so we can be 100 % sure about what your problem is.
