Hello, how's everyone doing? New to the forum so bare with me

So, I dropped my laptop and I think I was able to isolate the problem-unfortunately it was the screen!! I connected it to an old monitor which worked since I was able to see load up screen but when vista starts to load the screen shuts off?? not sure why...

Another thing also is that the cpu cooling fan doesn't run so I'm assuming the screen shuts off because of heat.

My questions are;

Is it the integrated video card the problem?
cooling fan?
and can I still salvage the laptop even if I just use the external screen?

Thanks for any help and advices!

Could always hook up the fan to 5V aka a usb port to force it on and see if it's a heat issue. mightve hurt the fan or knocked out a connector too when you dropped it. Worst thing would be a corrupted hd....but thats fixable actually.

You can actually replace the screen if you give us all the info about the computer as you can, most preferably looking at the info for the lcd itself by taking it apart and then ebaying the part number. Or you could use it as a desktop pc:P

I just want to make this laptop usable even if its a desktop

I tried messing with it some more but now it wouldn't even boot. the HDD shuts off and a green light is flashing? So, I guess I possible made another issue?

You should google lenovo diagnostics, or call their tech support that might help find out what the flashing means.

I would first try to open up the notebook and check all internal connections. It is possible that something has been knocked loose with the drop. Reseat everything that you can (ram, hard drive, wireless card ...)

cheers ...

Sounds like an overheat, get it open and check the fans are running and not blocked/disconnected.
Can you run it for longer if it's just at the bios screen?

Again, that diagnostic code will tell you whatever issue it is, disconnect, thermal trip, raandom marshmellow monster crapping inside, whatever it is. That one is tough to deal with unless you have smoked mozza cheese lying around.
