The new system is here...

Wow! How do you see it in comparison to the Asus G73?

cheers ...

If I had the same CPU options in the M17x that they give you in the G73 my score would be around 26K.

So they are short-changing users? That is a shame .

cheers ...

That's what I'd like to know...

At the moment only the followings are being made available in the configuration of the Asus G73JH that I am aware of:
- Intel® Core™ i7-820QM/i7-720QM Processor
- Intel® Core™ i5-620M/540M/520M/430M Processor
- Intel® Core™ i3-350M/330M Processor

cheers ...

I meant CPU options in the bios. The 920XM is throttled back by the system in the AW. The G73 let's you set those limits so you can burn it to a crisp if you wanted to.

I see. They don't call Asus Republic of Games for nothing

cheers ...

wow. there are enough options in the bios to overclock it to these levels? or is for the 920 only? Im getting the 720 processor tomorrow.

also dell's site shows A05 bios. which one are you running, or have you tried A05?

My system came with A05 and yes you need the 920XM for the additional OC options.

I am sure that many manufacturers are loading up for the next Intel OC-able CPUs (the K series) that are just being released for the desktop environment.

Wow...

22k on a notebook. Wasn't long ago that would be an impressive score for a desktop. I'm not ready to leap yet, but I'm close behind you. M17x is one beast of a machine. Congrats

very impressive oc result. Does Eleet gives you CPU volt change setting or it is done in BIOS? I thought the BIO will only offers you 5% increasing on FSB.

It's in the bios. Voltage and CPU bclk frequency.

Does Eleet offer you ocing option as CPU volt and FSB setting?

No only turbo mode multipliers. I hear setfsb is working with the latest shareware version ($5 donation). You just use the Asus G73 clock generator. Just make sure you don't fry your memory.

Thank for the info. I only need the multi in Turbo mode. I just need the 24X, and that will run about 3.2.

Can you also change the FSB in Eleet? 140 will be good

What do you suggest for 720QM ocing?

BTW, have you install the new Intel Turbo boost 1.3?

You cannot change your turbo mode multipliers with the 720QM. Sorry I didn't mention that before. Adjusting multipliers is only unlocked on extreme processors. If you want to OC the 720QM your only option is setfsb. (bad name in this case since the i7 architecture does not use FSB)

I don't use the turbo boost monitor since it doesn't show each cpu core/thread individually. You would need to use something like the All CPU Meter gadget or Argus Monitor.

oh darn..... anyway, I only OCing once on my last 1730 when I first get it for 3DMark06 benchmark like 2 and some years ago....errr
