XPS M1330 - Battery never recharging to 100

New OEM 9 cell battery won't charge to 100% in Ubuntu (same for latest 3 distros). Practically never use the battery, it's almost new. Previous 2 batteries had same problem, they're both not working now as a result. So this new battery will soon not work either as a result of this Dell failure. Have had the motherboard replaced recently, problem persists.
Am using a XPS M1330. Can anything be done?

Are you up to date on BIOS and chipset driver? What about the power adapter? I would send the battery back for a replacement though.

also curious to know what the battery status is reported in the BIOS ?

Also verify the AC Adpaptor is correctly identified in the BIOS as well
