[Urgent]Weird Display Problem in Inspiron 1720

Thread Starter
Hello All,

My laptop speakers stopped working suddenly and I ordered a new set. I decided to replace the speakers myself. I followed all the instruction given on the dell service manual and successfully installed the new set. The funny thing is that the display started to give problems resulting in a kind of flicker and kind of ringing on the screen. The problem starts at BIOS startup itself where the font appears smudged. I know for sure that the its not a graphics card issue as I tried connecting an external Display to the VGA port and the picture was crystal clear. Can anyone help me out as to whats going on here?? Is it a display panel issue or could be a cable issue. Anyone faced this issue before?

Any pointers will be gratefully appreciated!!

Thanks,
Kspp86

Review the connections? Don't see other possible reasons.

Dido, but this does still sound really odd. Are the speakers newer than the computer bios? sometimes that can be an issue.

Just a complete random thought.

Has the teenyiest bit of validility as in that dell usually doesn't allow newer parts support, aka. their bios has pretty much a list of what devices it can boot with. The whole reason why the 3600m has so much trouble working with a e1705.

Probably isn't it but other than the video cable Im clueless and thats the only other logical thing in my brain.
