Compaq Presario F700 won't turn on.

Hi. I have a Presario F700 that I've been using for over 2 years with no real problems. Today I was using my computer and it froze. I pushed the power button to turn it off like I usually do when it freezes. When I tried to power up the computer again, it wouldn't power up. The light on the bottom of the laptop turns on for a second then goes off. I've never had this happen before. My computer uses Win Vista and AVG antivirus. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

I would first attempt to open it up, give it a good clean up (dusting) inside and apply new thermal paste, taking that it is a 2 years old comp.

You can also try to remove the ram modules, hard drive and re-seat them .

Thanks for the advice. I spent the last two days taking apart the laptop. I applied new thermal paste and cleaned the fan and insides. But still won't power up. I was wondering if maybe the ac cord might be the problem. The battery probably doesn't have enough power to start the laptop. I don't know.

Can you borrow another as adapter somewhere and try it out? At this stage I have the feeling that the motherboard is failing.

cheers ...
