E Series vs EB Series

Hi,

I started a thread asking for feedback between these two laptops. Maybe it was deleted cause it had links in it.

Anyways,

I've done some research, and the only upgrade is see is that the new EB has a LED backlight (yet still bad reviews on the display screen). Since the new EB's are about $100-200 more than the old E's, would it be correct to say that they are not worth it ?

Thanks,

It's hard to say if the LED screen is worth the extra $ unless you really want it. Many users consider it better screen than the good old backlight screen, many do not. What are other differences in specs besides the screen on the models that you look at?

They seem to have the same specs:

CPU: range from i3-330 to i5-540
Video card: upgradeable from on-motherboard one

The old E-Series and the EB-Series really seem like the same components. Except the new EB has a bump in price. Can anyone tell me why ?

Don't know what to tell you. From here I see that there is no EB, only E with many configurations - 32 so far with LED/HD screen and no LED - and comes in with 14", 15.5" or 17.3" machines.

The EA (14 inch screen) EB (15) EC (17) were announced in the last few months.

Up here in Canada, they are not available for purchase yet. We used to have a general E-series one which was 15" and was comparable to the EB.

It looks like that 'dutch' site has the new models listed, but not seperated out like below:

I see it now, UK Sony advertises the same way EB = 15.5" E Series. The model number is probably the best way to go about the real specs of the machine.

I don't see much of a difference from the "old" E that you mentioned other than a rewrapping and better screen on certain configuration (yep, it all boils down to machine configuration for the difference in price).

Good luck. Give us a personal review if you get it and when you have a chance.
