m9700 dead?

Hi guys

I am baffled with this and would be grateful for any thoughts.

I have an m9700 which I've had for several years now.

Recently, I turned it on and it had a blank screen. I have tried replacing the inverter but still nothing. I cannot see any faint images.

If I connect it to an external screen it works. So presumably the graphics cards work...?

I can use Fn and the dim buttons to increase the brightness on the LCD - one dead blue pixel shows up. Therefore, presumably it is not the backlight...? That said, when I adjust the brightness the screen does seem to flicker.

Very grateful for any thoughts before I have to send it off for repair and no doubt be charged a fortune. Am really hoping it is not the LCD.

Sounds like you may need a new LCD screen.

But before that I would replace the GPU cable it is possible it has crapped and your not getting the video to the display
