m17x cpu upgrade... gone wrong?

Ok, so basically I followed all the necessary steps in order to replace the CPU.

Used Arctic Cooling thermogrease and all, put it back together.

My system specs are as follows:

CPU: i7 720m (atttempted upgrade to 920xm)
8GB Ram
500Gb HD 7200rpm
non-blu ray stock cdrom drive
4870 in crossfire

So what happened is, I turned the computer back on... firstly, the screen is blank... two short beeps, and then after I heard it login to windows... but still no video on screen...

I'm completely lost what I did wrong? I've worked with numerous computers before and had nothing likek this happen to me..

Any Idea's? Is it possible that the new cpu is faulty? Wouldnt it tell me that on the screen if it was?

Thanks

Where did you get the CPU, and can you even enter the bios? lastly did you lock the CPU in place after placing it? And is this an Engineering Sample version?

Are there any blinking lights? Can you see anything with an external monitor?

Sounds like you GPU cable maybe the issue

all is well

After countless hours of fiddling around with the inner workings of the laptop, I finally figured out why the screen didnt turn on...

Apparently, the screen connector is somewhat flimsy and doesnt click in properly, so I wiggled it around, crossed my fingers and hoped for the best.

As of now all is well.

The cpu is a ES qualification sample I got for 400$(Canadian), runs pretty good and overclocks stable, no problems.

Thanks for all the replies!
