Battery/AC issue I've never encountered before...

Ok, so I have a 7805u with a battery/AC/power board issue that I've never run into before on any laptop. My power cord works fine. The battery is good. If I run the laptop on the battery it works fine. If I run the laptop on AC with no battery in it, it's fine. If I have the battery in and the AC adapter plugged in, it will periodically just start switching between battery and AC power, as if the AC adapter was loose, but the adapter is definitely not loose, as pulling the battery at that point just leaves it on AC. I first noticed when the laptop would start throttling while plugged in during games. Alt+tab out and notice the laptop shows it's running on battery.

I have verified the following: The power socket on the board is perfectly fine (I have pulled it apart, checked the solder, etc.) My power adapter is fine (wife and I have the same computer, problem exists with either adapter and does not occur on her system with either adapter). I have not yet tried trading batteries with my wife, but the battery shows no issues charging or holding a charge except for the odd times that this glitch occurs. I was just wondering if anyone else had experienced this before. Also of note, when it occurs it causes the onboard socket and adapter end to get some serious resistance heat going.

Sounded like a bad power jack on the board. I would take it apart and review it closely for some loose soldering.

cheers ...
