Arima Notebook + Home Cinema HT353SD

Hi friends,

I have a laptop with an Arima W651 board (the rest of the specifications are in my signature) and an LG W2361V-PF monitor. I have connected them via the VGA port and I also connected a LG HT353SD Home Cinema system through the audio jack of my laptop to the Aux In of the Home Cinema.

When I play any kind of music or movie, only the front speakers of my audio system output sound, the subwoofer and the other 3 speakers don't output any sound. How can I get my computer to output sound through all speakers?
And just one more question: if I wanted to config the system with the remote that came with it, I'd need to be able to connect the system to a display or a computer. Any tips on how to do it?

King regards,
Hallaghan

In order to use the full surround sound you might need an external multi channel audio card.

I don't quite get the 2nd query. You mean using the remote that comes with the notebook or the remote that comes with the Home Cinéma?

Is there really no other way of getting sound on all speakers other than buying an external sound card?
About the 2nd query, it's the remote of the home cinema. I was wondering how could I get image on my monitor from my home cinema or by using my laptop as a "bridge".

Not really on the audio part. We are talking about pushing audio out to different channels here, notebook audio out jack just does not cut it.

I am not sure if you can use the remote of the home theatre for the notebook display on its screen. There are a few remotes out there where you can tweak (re-program) them but they never work right anyway.

I get it, but its not the notebook display I'm trying to get the image at. Like I said, I've got an external display connected to my notebook.

You want to get the signal from your Home Theatre onto your notebook then showing it on the external monitor? You would need some sort of tuner for this and get the signal direct from the source, bypassing the Home Theatre all together I think.

Would it be easier to just link the home theater to the screen? The screen only has vga, hdmi and DVI ports. As for the home theater, it has YUV, RCA and Scart.
If I'd go like this, do you know if there's a good way of connecting them?

I doubt that those connections are for output. Do you have Scart ouput on this device? If yes there is a possibility of some converter/adapter .

Yes, there's a Scart output on the home cinema system

Scart to USB video capture kit ... yep, that's what you want to look into

Thanks qhn. But just to be sure, the usb input can be used to receive image as well?

Yes, with proper software and input converter.
