Hi everyone
Have a just bought a Toshiba A60 that had a broken screen, had a spare so replaced it, seller said it booted to bios but think that was bull as i never checked, so heres the problem
Pressing power button its slow to light up and when it does it does show toshiba logo then goes blank and beeps for approx 20 secs then get the system check then press F1...no key will work, have tried ESC to enter bios on start up but not work...have looked around and one idea was the BIOS battery needed changeing but like hell can i find any info anywhere that shows where it is, i have a spare motherboard and still carnt see where it is....anyone with any ideas as to either of the problems above....

ooops, i mean obviously beeps...approx 60-70 in about 20 secs...

Continuous beep usually points to a bad power supply or system board failure. Do you have another adapter to try?

In the Toshiba Section we have a sticky on user manuals. You might need to take the whole thing apart to get the CMOS battery which sometimes is being soldered direct onto the mainboard.

And no, I don't think that it is CMOS battery related issue, but then there is always 1st time for everything.

Had a good look on there and nothing about cmos battery...you think i mite aswell install another motherboard and if so best place to buy one, preferably secondhand that works..

You need to look at the manual to take things apart to get to the CMOS

A used Toshiba A60 with broken screen or something like that would be cheaper than getting a replacement motherboard or try here.

I havent put any memory in it.. and to add insult to injury the bloody thing has packed in alltogether now...so i now have parts for sale..

Strip it down to all its components and look for any damage to the mainboard ie toasted components... You do need RAM to get POST..

Thanks for your reply, will strip it down...and the A60 has a built in memory on the motherboard hence i was getting POST before it packed in altogether.
Cheers
